Buckingham Partners With Depauw University

DePauw University Selects Partner for Seminary Square Development

Greencastle, Ind. — DePauw University and the City of Greencastle have selected Buckingham Companies of Indianapolis as the development partner for the Seminary Square mixed-use project. The development represents a critical component of Growing Green and Gold Together, a campus and community initiative designed to support local economic growth and enhance the quality of life in the region.

The Seminary Square development will transform a key area near downtown Greencastle into a vibrant, mixed-use district integrating residential, commercial and community spaces. This project aligns with DePauw’s long-term vision of promoting sustainability, supporting local partnerships and enhancing the daily experience of both students and residents.

The Seminary Square plan calls for two new multifamily residential buildings totaling 120 units. Planned design features include greenspace, parking and the DePauw bookstore. The site plan consists of a two-block area with frontage on Seminary, Indiana and Poplar Streets. Vine Street will run through the middle and be converted to pedestrian use. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2028.

Growing Green and Gold Together Project Director and Community Liaison Jason Chew said, “We are excited to meet the next milestone in this incredible project. Throughout the proposal process, Buckingham Companies demonstrated their experience in mixed-use development, deep commitment to fostering strong community ties, and an understanding of the needs of Greencastle and DePauw, making them the right choice for this initiative.”
