Aertson Midtown became a storied location before it even broke ground. Located in one of the most authentic neighborhoods in Nashville, directly adjacent to Vanderbilt University, the project was named for Jan Aertson, the patriarch of the Vanderbilt family. Jan Aertson came to America in 1706, changing his name to Vanderbilt to honor the Dutch village from which he came, De Bilt. The history and culture of Nashville is what inspired a project of this magnitude for the Buckingham team and what continues to drive us through one of our most challenging projects to date.
At 17 stories, 600,000 square feet, with 350 high-end apartments, a 180-key Kimpton hotel, 35,000 square feet of lifestyle retail, and a 630-space parking garage, Aertson Midtown will infill prime real estate in Nashville’s most energetic neighborhood. Influenced by the historic university settings of Vanderbilt and Belmont University and mixed with a modern sophistication, Aertson Midtown emulates the rich history and bright future of one of the nation’s hottest cities.
The Challenge?
Plan, build and lease a major 600,000 SF mixed-use development on 1.9 acres in one of the busiest intersections in the city – and make it look like it belongs there. Become part of the neighborhood. Provide living space for musicians, artists, professionals, professors, future lawyers, doctors and scientists. Provide a refuge for visitors that want to see the real Nashville, but not necessarily in the glow of the neon lights. Create a destination for extraordinary dining and cocktail experiences.
The Result?
Aertson Midtown consists of market-leading apartments and amenities, including a rooftop pool deck and lounge, a dog park and grooming stations, a bike maintenance shop, a vinyl listening room, a theater, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. The community comprises of a Kimpton hotel that thrives on individuality and a local vibe along with Henley, a modern American brasserie with skillfully crafted food and cocktails, rooted in local fair. Becoming a focal point in the Midtown neighborhood, Aertson Midtown also includes a variety of dining options - The Ainsworth, Nada, and Caviar & Bananas - as well as Sun Trust Bank and The Woodhouse Day Spa.
