Progress continues on the $135 million, second phase of the CityWay development in downtown Indianapolis. CityWay 2.0 will include more than 400 additional apartments in a mixed-use community that will consist of a 13-story tower, a pair of five-story buildings and three four-story buildings. Indianapolis-based Buckingham Companies is leading the project, which is located near the Eli Lilly and Co. campus and Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Bargersville-based Taxman Brewing Co. is renovating a mid-1800s-era livery building into a gastropub and beer garden and co-owner Leah Huelsebusch says CityWay is "the ideal place" for expansion. "We're excited to have more of a central location. I think there's a lot of tourists coming into Indianapolis, as well as people coming out for the Pacers games and to see the Colts play and it'll be a great opportunity for people to have somewhere to go for a drink and for dinner before and after, as well as concerts," Huelsebusch said, adding it will be a "central hub for our business."

Taxman's investment plans come in at just under $1 million, Huelsebusch told Inside INdiana Business Reporter Mary-Rachel Redman and will include construction of additional space, room for 200 and 3,000 square-feet of patio space. Construction on Taxman's project is set to be complete in the fall of next year. In addition to Taxman's Johnson County headquarters, it has a taproom in Fortville.

"CityWay truly is a live/work/play destination within the city of Indianapolis," said Buckingham Group Vice President of Production Operations Ryan Gallmeyer. "It's been transformative for this quadrant of downtown and brought a lot of ancillary economic development."

CityWay first opened in 2012.
