BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Bradford Ridge Apartments, a community partner that recently donated $3,100 in response to Hoosier Hills Food Bank’s vandalized trucks, is now focused on filling those trucks with food for those in need this winter season.

Bradford Ridge Apartments in Bloomington, Ind. was one of several partners who donated money to repair two Hoosier Hills’ delivery trucks after thieves took the trucks’ catalytic converters over Labor Day weekend. Their donation helped cover the cost of the insurance deductible and staffing needs to keep the food bank’s deliveries on schedule. Now, the apartment complex is focusing on filling the delivery trucks with food.

“It was such an unfortunate and unexpected circumstance, and we wanted to make sure Hoosier Hills Food Bank continued to meet the needs of the Bloomington and surrounding community while the trucks were out of operation,” said Kelli Kern, area property manager for Buckingham Companies, which owns Bradford Ridge Apartments. “The trucks are fixed. Now, we want to fill them up!”

Beginning Oct. 27 through the end of November, new and prospective renters, residents and the Bloomington community can help fill the trucks by donating canned goods and other nonperishable food at the Bradford Ridge leasing office. For those interested in renting at Bradford Ridge, any canned good donated will automatically waive the initial rental application fee, a $35 savings.

“We’re very grateful for the community partners, like Bradford Ridge, who stepped in during a very unfortunate ordeal,” said Julio Alonso, executive director of Hoosier Hills. “With their generosity, we have been able to continue the mission of Hoosier Hills and provide enough food for our eight‐county service area. And Bradford Ridge’s continued support will only help further our mission.”

A donation bin can be found in the front lobby of Bradford Ridge’s leasing office at 2900 Ridge Road in Bloomington. New renters, residents and the community are invited to drop off donations during normal office hours: 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday or noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

Bradford Ridge is an apartment community owned and managed by Buckingham Companies of Indianapolis.
